What happens

Junius Peabody, a disgraced former flyer drinking his way through Sydney, drifts across the Pacific after his money runs out. On a beach at Fufuti he finds a lump of ambergris, a valuable substance, but Sydney Duck and a man named Willems steal it from him. Peabody goes to the island's trader Bendemare, who offers a bargain, and then to the rocks where the thieves are hiding. This is an episode of Escape, the CBS radio anthology, adapted from John Russell's story by Norman Macdonald, with Ben Wright, John Dehner and Lawrence Dobkin in the cast.

Sydney, Australia, and then the South Pacific island of Fufuti

Characters: Junius Peabody, Sydney Duck, Willems, Bendemare, Sir John

Listen for: Peabody's struggle to get the ambergris back from the thieves and Bendemare's offer of a half interest in Nukhava

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
