What happens

Johnny Hook, a former fighter pilot, arrives in Macau and is hired by Connie Rawls, who runs the Red Angel nightclub and a smuggling operation on the waterfront. Connie sends Johnny to destroy the boats of Peter Marcik, a rival, and the job leads to a police cruiser being sunk. Inspector Kai-wan keeps watching the club, while Connie offers Johnny a large sum to assassinate the gorilla leader Lu Chan. Johnny's loyalties are tested as the rain falls over the city.

Macau, on the south coast of China, a city of waterfront dives and nightclubs ruled by smuggling and rival factions.

Characters: Johnny Hook, Connie Rawls, Fusang, Peter Marcik, Inspector Kai-wan, Willie, Frankie, Lu Chan

Listen for: Connie's voice and the rain-soaked narration as she tells Johnny about the boats and the offer to kill Lu Chan.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
