What happens
Corporal Robert Lacy, a Marine on patrol on Okinawa in 1945, keeps talking about a paradise island he has dreamed of, while his companion Tabori grows impatient with him. Three miles behind Japanese lines, the two men encounter a wounded young woman named Taki, who insists she comes from an island far to the east. Lacy is drawn to her and her homeland, and his fixation on the dream begins to affect his judgment. The Escape episode, titled The Island, was originally broadcast on July 11, 1951, and is written by Millard Kaufman.

Characters: Robert Lacy, Tabori, Taki, Hiroshi
Listen for: Lacy's growing fascination with the island and Tabori's rising suspicion of him
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
