What happens

Woody and Harry Pope are construction workers in Bombay, and Harry, who distrusts anyone not American, wakes one night to find a krait, a tiny deadly snake, in his bed. Woody rushes to fetch help, and the two men turn to Dr. Ganderby, a doctor Harry has long scorned for being a foreigner. Woody tells the story in this episode of Escape, the 1950 series, and Harry's fear and prejudice drive the tension as the doctor works to save him from the snake's bite.

Bombay, India, in the summer heat, in Harry Pope's bedroom and in a nearby house

Characters: Woody, Harry Pope, Dr. Ganderby, Dave

Listen for: Harry's prejudice toward those who are not American and how it shapes his reaction to Dr. Ganderby's help

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
