What happens

Captain Weatherfield, a stubborn and proud old master of the freighter Wakeland, is jailed for seven days in New Bristol after striking a man who insulted his ship. On release he sails to rescue the crew of the disabled freighter Johannes in a hurricane, a rescue he intends to use to force a public apology from the town. The story follows the dangerous open-boat rescue, the injured Captain Miller, and the captain's determination to humiliate the town that wronged him. This is the Escape episode 'Habit', broadcast on 18 July 1948, adapted from F.R. Buckley's story.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
