What happens

Father Murchison, a clergyman in London's East End, meets Professor Gildia, a psychologist who cares for no one and keeps a grey parrot in his book-lined study overlooking Hyde Park. Gildia becomes convinced that an invisible presence has entered his house and that it feels a strange affection for him. Murchison, skeptical, watches the parrot react to the unseen thing and struggles to explain the events. Escape, the CBS radio drama series, aired this episode on February 28, 1948, with Louis Van Rooten as Gildia and Parley Baer as Murchison.

London's West End, a house on Hyde Park, and later Oxford

Characters: Father Murchison, Professor Gildia, Pitting, Napoleon the parrot

Listen for: Gildia's growing conviction that an invisible presence is in love with him, and Murchison's attempts to find a rational explanation

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
