What happens
Dr. Dubose, Fenoreau and Perret escape from the penal colony at Numea in the South Pacific on a crude raft, carrying a fourth man who steers it for them. Their rescue ship fails to appear, and water becomes scarce as the three convicts grow suspicious of each other and of the silent native steersman. The episode is the Escape broadcast of August 18, 1947, featuring Paul Frees as Dr. Dubose, adapted from John Russell's story The Fourth Man. The men's tension mounts over the water supply and their views of the native, who keeps his own counsel throughout the long, sun-scorched days at sea.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
