What happens
In ancient Egypt, a priest named Sosra and his friend Parmis, both students of the temple of Osiris, discover a fluid that grants a long life. Sosra falls in love with Atma, daughter of the governor of Abaris, and presses her to share the elixir so they can be together for thousands of years. Escape presents this sixth episode, The Ring of Thoth, adapted from a story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, first broadcast on August 11, 1947. Jack Webb and Joan Banks lead the cast, with Thomas Breen as the narrator. The story is told through a framing narrative set in the Louvre in Paris, where an Egyptologist encounters an attendant with an unusual appearance who has come to recover a sacred ring.

Characters: Sosra, Parmis, Atma, John Vance Smith
Listen for: The narrator's first encounter with the attendant in the Louvre, and Sosra's persuasion of Atma to take the elixir
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
