What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, learns that Duffy wants to sell the run-down establishment for $19,000 and that he would earn a five percent commission on the sale. Archie is eager to make the deal, but the tavern's shabby condition and the sheer size of the commission keep stirring up trouble. Word reaches the tavern that Prince Michael Romanoff is visiting, and Archie begins to see him as a possible buyer. Duffy's staff scrambles to make the place fit for a royal guest, improvising a throne and a red carpet from whatever is on hand. The episode is from the Duffy's Tavern series, with Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop in the lead roles, and it originally aired on December 8, 1950.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
