What happens

Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, hosts a Christmas gathering with his staff Eddie and Miss Duffy, and a special guest, actor Monty Woolley. Eddie hangs holiday decorations and recites an awkward poem, while the tavern's bustle builds around him. Archie's kid brother Wilfred, a precocious youngster, arrives and is quickly drawn into the good-natured bickering. Eddie and Archie spar over gifts, and Woolley is pressed into a suggestion about playing Santa Claus at the tavern's Christmas Eve party. The episode is from the Duffy's Tavern series, originally broadcast on December 22, 1944, starring Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
