What happens
Eddie the waiter threatens to quit Duffy's Tavern after a dispute over pay, and Archie tries to talk him out of it while Duffy frets over losing him. Eddie's grievances about working long hours for little money drive the early scenes, and Archie, meanwhile, schemes to keep the staff intact. Boxer Maxie Rosenblum arrives at the tavern looking for work, and the tavern's regulars trade jokes with him and with Miss Duffy. The episode is part of the Duffy's Tavern singles series in the OTRR collection, originally broadcast on 1945-11-09 on CBS, NBC Blue and NBC, with Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop in the leading roles.

Listen for: Archie's running wisecracks with Duffy over Eddie's threat to leave, and Maxie Rosenblum's boasts about his boxing career when he is hired as a waiter.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
