What happens
Archie, the put-upon employee at Duffy's Tavern, is furious when Duffy refuses him a raise and threatens to sue him. Duffy's proprietor, Ed Gardner, plays the boss who keeps stalling, while Archie hires a shady lawyer named Briefcase O'Shea and gathers a series of comically unreliable witnesses. Archie's claims about his own past in the legal trade are unconvincing, and the lawyers' attempts to build the case grow increasingly absurd. This episode from Duffy's Tavern, a CBS, NBC Blue and NBC radio comedy first broadcast on December 14, 1945, features Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop, with guest Ed Monroe. The tavern's regulars drift in and out as the courtroom plan takes shape.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
