What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, announces he is about to marry the wealthy Abigail Piddleton, a widow who has already buried three husbands. Eddie Fennigan doubts his motives while Archie insists the match is a sensible one. Their conversation turns to Desi Arnaz, who visits the tavern and sings a comic song about a straw hat. Archie then sets up a seance with Abigail to consult her late husbands before the wedding goes ahead. This Duffy's Tavern episode from 1949 was broadcast on CBS, NBC Blue and NBC, and stars Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
