What happens
Archie and Finnegan at Duffy's Tavern discuss turning the bar into an exclusive private club where only actors may join, nicknamed the Hams Club. Charles Laughton arrives as the special guest and becomes the first prospective member, but he must audition before the Board of Governors. Ed Gardner leads the cast, and the broadcast is part of the Duffy's Tavern series, originally aired on April 18, 1944. The episode is a comedy built on Archie's schemes and wordplay, and Laughton's audition makes up the central running gag.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
