What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, is smitten when guest Carole Landis arrives at the tavern. Archie tries to impress her with poetry and flattery, while Finnegan frets over his quarter and Duffy calls in with a surprising offer. Ed Gardner stars as Archie in this 1944 episode of the Duffy's Tavern radio series, which aired on CBS, NBC Blue and NBC. Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop also appear, and the evening's comic complications build around Archie's pursuit of his famous visitor.
Duffy's Tavern, a Manhattan restaurant where the elite meet to eat
Characters: Archie, Duffy, Eddie, Carole Landis, Finnegan, Toby, Miss Duffy, Josephine
Listen for: Archie's attempts to woo Carole Landis and the way Duffy's offer of a job changes the evening
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
