What happens
At Duffy's Tavern, Archie and his regulars plot to lure the Lone Ranger to the Tivoli Theatre, where the manager, Whiteboard, has offered a free season pass for the right man. Finnegan's younger brother Wilford is brought in and turns out to be a sharp critic of the Lone Ranger radio program. Meanwhile Miss Duffy flirts with a visitor who claims to be the masked hero, and the regulars argue over whether anyone really knows what the Lone Ranger looks like. This is Duffy's Tavern, from the Duffy's Tavern singles series, first broadcast on February 2, 1943, with Ed Gardner and Shirley Booth in the lead roles.

Characters: Archie, Miss Duffy, Finnegan, Eddie, Jake, Wilford, Whiteboard, Lone Ranger
Listen for: Archie trying to persuade the visitor who calls himself the Lone Ranger, and Wilford's critical remarks about the radio show
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
