What happens

Archie, the blustering manager of Duffy's Tavern, hires bandleader Artie Shaw to play at the neighborhood block party. Archie hopes to cut costs and strikes a bargain over the fee, while Miss Duffy and the Mad Russian weigh in on the band and the arrangements. Shaw's clarinet and the search for a suitable group drive much of the bickering. The episode features Ed Gardner as Archie, with Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop in the cast. It was broadcast on March 30, 1951, as part of the Duffy's Tavern series.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
