What happens
Archie finds a old book hidden under the floorboards of Duffy's Tavern, a diary apparently written by Peter Stuyvesant, the Dutch governor of New York. Archie, Trigger, and the Mad Russian discuss its value and consider selling it to a museum. Archie and Miss Duffy argue about history and Irish ancestry as the group examines the pages. Archie and Trigger then consider how to make the book look more authentic. The episode is part of the Duffy's Tavern series, originally broadcast on March 23, 1951, with Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop in the lead roles.
Duffy's Tavern in New York City
Characters: Archie, Miss Duffy, Finnegan, Mad Russian, Trigger
Listen for: Archie's attempts to pass off the old diary as genuine, and the arguments about history between Archie and Miss Duffy
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
