What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, is in a dispute with Duffy over his pay after an argument about watering down the drinks. He announces he is quitting and plans a trip to Honolulu, which he believes he will win through a slogan contest. Fats and Miss Duffy listen to the radio as the winners are announced, and Archie hopes to hear his name. The Duffy's Tavern radio series is heard in its December 28, 1951 broadcast on CBS, NBC Blue and NBC, starring Ed Gardner and Shirley Booth.
Duffy's Tavern, a bar in New York, with a radio broadcast of a children's slogan contest
Characters: Archie, Duffy, Miss Duffy, Fats, Finnegan, Officer Clancy, Uncle Rodney
Listen for: Archie's pitch about Honolulu and the slogan contest, and his argument with Duffy over his fifteen dollars
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
