What happens
Archie, the boisterous manager at Duffy's Tavern, is moping over his former girlfriend Dolly Snapple, who has left him for an opera singer named Windheim. Finding that Dolly admires Windheim's voice, Archie hatches a scheme to pass himself off as an opera singer. He enlists Eddie, the tavern's waiter, and Finnegan to help, and sets up a plan in which Windheim will sing from behind the bar while Archie mouths the words. The Duffy's Tavern series is a comedy on CBS, NBC Blue and NBC, and this episode aired on May 25, 1945, with Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop among its leads. The transcript covers only the early part of the episode.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
