What happens
Dennis Day wants a radio program of his own, and the Colgate company has offered him one for the fall. He needs permission from Jack Benny, the comedian he works for, so he goes to Benny's house to ask. Benny is reluctant, and Dennis tries to win him over with flattery and a sample recording of his audition, including a romantic scene he plays opposite a character named Mildred. The episode is part of the Day In The Life Of Dennis Day series, first broadcast on October 3, 1946, with Dennis Day starring and John Douglas also in the cast.
Jack Benny's house, and the radio studio where Dennis Day's program is being developed
Characters: Dennis Day, Jack Benny, Mildred Anderson, Don Wilson, Frank Galen, John Douglas
Listen for: Dennis flattering Jack Benny at his home and playing the love scene from his audition recording
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
