What happens
Broadway, a nameless narrator who knows the Manhattan underworld, meets Tobias Twiny, a timid little man from Erasmus, Pennsylvania, crying over a lost love at Mindy's restaurant. Tobias says Deborah Weems broke off their engagement because he is not tough enough, and he has come to New York to meet gangsters so he can return and face his rival, Joe Trivet. Broadway takes him to Good Time Charlie's, a club full of gangsters including Harry the Horse, Angie the Ox and Little Mitzi. The story is part of The Damon Runyon Theatre, adapted for radio from Damon Runyon's stories, and the episode's original air date and cast are not stated in the transcript.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
