What happens
David Harding, a counterspy for the United States, is called to Loganberry Point on the Maine coast after an elderly widow, Eliza Gott, captures a stranger who came ashore from a torpedoed ship. Eliza keeps a lantern lit on her porch for a husband lost at sea decades earlier. The man claims to be a survivor, but Harding's investigation suggests he is a German agent. The episode is part of the Counterspy series, first aired on September 14, 1942, and its lead actors are not named in the transcript.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
