What happens
The Comic Weekly Man, a jolly host, visits a young listener named Miss Honey and reads aloud from the comic paper Puck, wishing everyone a merry Christmas. He reads several strips in turn. Flash Gordon and Dale are on a strange planet where metal is forbidden, and they face the wizard Kurzo and the general Goro, with Queen Suni on their side. Dick dreams he is in Philadelphia on the Fourth of July and carries the Declaration of Independence to General Washington. Rusty Riley and Patty discover a mysterious black light on a boat. Donald Duck tricks his nephews into shoveling snow. Brer Rabbit, Roy Rogers, Dagwood and Prince Valiant each have a short adventure. The episode ends with the host promising to return next week.
A radio program in which the host reads comic strips from the paper Puck aloud to listeners at home, around Christmas week.
Characters: Comic Weekly Man, Miss Honey, Flash Gordon, Dale, Kurzo, Goro, Queen Suni, Dick
Listen for: The host reading the Flash Gordon strip, in which the wizard Kurzo has outlawed metal and a huge dragon attacks the characters.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
