What happens
Comic Weekly Man reads aloud from the comics pages of Puck the Comic Weekly, moving from strip to strip. He opens with Beetle Bailey, where a sergeant who wants to slim down is tricked into eating a pie. Next is Walt Disney's Ben and Me, in which the mouse Amos is nearly electrocuted by Benjamin Franklin's kite experiment and falls out with his friend, while the mouse's family discusses the growing unrest against the British king. The reading continues with Donald Duck, where his nephews use toothpaste to mark a trail, Dick Tracy's uncle and Dick are taken captive by Indians led by Osceola, the Rusty Riley case, where a mix-up over identical jackets is staged in court, Dagwood and Blondie, Flash Gordon, and Roy Rogers.
A comic-strip reading in a living room, with stories set in colonial America, a Florida Indian frontier, a court, a suburban home, a distant planet and the American West
Characters: Comic Weekly Man, Beetle Bailey, Ben Franklin, Amos, Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, Louie
Listen for: The stories are read aloud in the narrator's own voice, with some character voices and sound effects
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
