What happens
The Comic Weekly Man reads the funnies aloud to children, starting with a Santa Claus exchange with Miss Honey. He then reads Ben and Me, in which Benjamin Franklin and Amos the mouse have fallen out, and Ben, back from England with a failed mission, faces a quarrel with the colonies. Next come Roy Rogers, whose train is hijacked by an outlaw, and Donald Duck, whose pet parakeet Chip leads him on a chase down a chimney. Dagwood's supposed scientific breakthrough is interrupted when Blondie calls him to supper. Flash Gordon searches for the mind on Callisto, Br'er Rabbit tricks Br'er Bear with dark glasses, Dick and his uncle are held captive by Indians, and Rusty Riley faces a theft trial. Each story stops on a cliffhanger.
A children's radio program in the form of a read-aloud of comic strips, with stories set in early America, the American West, Callisto, and a modern home and courtroom.
Characters: Comic Weekly Man, Miss Honey, Santa Claus, Benjamin Franklin, Amos, Roy Rogers, Donald Duck, Chip
Listen for: The Comic Weekly Man reading each strip's dialogue and sound effects in turn, including the Ben and Me and Roy Rogers serials.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
