What happens

The Comic Weekly Man reads the funnies from Puck the Comic Weekly aloud to listeners, moving through several comic strips in turn. The first is Hopalong Cassidy, where Hoppy, having fallen into a river after a bridge collapses, wakes in a shack beside a pyrite mine and finds himself put to work under armed guards. Other strips include Prince Valiant, in which a young couple tied to a stake brings the warring fathers to a halt, and Uncle Remus-style tales of Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox. Dagwood and Blondie, Roy Rogers, Flash Gordon, Dick's adventures in the American Revolution, and Rusty Riley each get a short reading. The Comic Weekly Man reads the strips' opening scenes and stops at cliffhangers, promising the rest next week.

A radio program in which the Comic Weekly Man reads comic strips from Puck the Comic Weekly, with the strips' stories set in the Old West, medieval Britain, a rural fable setting, suburban America, a futuristic kingdom, Revolutionary-era New Jersey, and a harbor town.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
