What happens

Hopalong Cassidy is captured by an outlaw gang led by a girl named Calico and put to work underground in their mine. Calico offers him a place in her organization, and Hopalong sends a letter and a sample of pyrite dust to his Bar 20 friends, claiming he has quit the ranch. The episode is a segment from the Comic Weekly Man's children's program, with the comic strip read aloud by the host. The segment is one installment of an ongoing strip, and the reading ends as the trap is sprung and Hopalong is taken away.

A mine operated by an outlaw gang, with a desk, a shack office and a dump cart, in the Old West.

Characters: Hopalong Cassidy, Calico

Listen for: Calico's line that no one will come looking for Hopalong now, and the henchman's warning that he has signed his own death warrant.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
