What happens

The Comic Weekly Man reads aloud from the comic pages of his weekly magazine for children, introducing each strip in turn. Hopalong Cassidy is on the trail of the Chameleon, a robber who keeps changing his disguise, and Hoppy is left stranded in the desert after the outlaws trick him. Prince Valiant and Arf struggle home along a wild river after their horses are lost in a storm. Donald Duck's nephew Huey escapes a bloodhound by walking through a creek. Dick and the Lewis and Clark expedition race a Spanish party to the Pacific. Rusty Riley and Pete are locked in a cabin by the crooks who stole the trophies. Dagwood's storm-night sandwich goes badly. Roy Rogers is knocked into a river by Cosmo. Flash Gordon's expedition meets two giant men in the Arctic. Each strip ends on a cliffhanger.

Comic strip pages in a children's comic weekly, with stories set in the desert, a river wilderness, the American West, a Rocky Mountain canyon, a mansion, a house and the Arctic.

Listen for: The Comic Weekly Man reading out each cliffhanger ending, such as Hoppy stranded in the desert and Roy Rogers sinking under the water.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
