What happens

The Comic Weekly Man reads comic strips aloud to his listener, Honey, in this episode of the series Comic Weekly Man, first broadcast on March 16, 1952. He opens with a rhyme about a baby named Hank, then reads the Hopalong Cassidy strip, in which Hoppy, tracking a robber known as the Chameleon, is captured in Terres Verde and helped to escape by a woman named Chiquita. The reading also covers Prince Valiant and Arn stranded on an island, Donald Duck and his nephews with their bicycles, Rusty Riley and Pete locked in a cave, Dagwood and Blondie with a tin of groceries, Roy Rogers at a logging camp, Flash Gordon, and Brer Rabbit. Each strip stops at a cliffhanger.

Comic strip pages read aloud in a living room, with separate adventures set in the Old West, medieval Britain, the countryside, a cave, a logging camp, and outer space.

Characters: Comic Weekly Man, Honey, Hank Founds, Hopalong Cassidy, Chiquita, Manuel, Prince Valiant, Arn

Listen for: Hank's baby rhyme at the start, and the cliffhanger endings of each strip read in turn.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
