What happens
The Comic Weekly Man reads the funnies aloud to a young listener, Miss Honey, on a Sunday visit. He reads several comic strips in turn: Beetle Bailey, where a soldier and his pals are invited to a lady's house and mix up garbage with party food; Peter Pan, where the Darling children and their dog Nana are visited by a boy who wants his shadow back; Flash Gordon, where Flash saves a Venusian from acid; Dick's Adventures, where Dick is pulled into New Orleans in 1814 and is tossed out by pirates; Rusty Riley, where a runaway boy overhears two crooks plotting against a carnival owner; Dagwood and Blondie, where Dagwood ruins a social visit; Donald Duck, where the nephews hide an old stove under a snowman; and Roy Rogers, where Roy and Brimstone trap a gang of outlaws. Each strip ends on a cliffhanger.
A Sunday visit by the Comic Weekly Man, reading strips in a bright, lighthearted format.
Characters: Comic Weekly Man, Miss Honey, Beetle Bailey, Mrs. Van Dividen, Peter Pan, Wendy, Michael, John
Listen for: The strip titles and characters as each one is introduced, and the cliffhanger endings the reader promises for next week.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
