What happens
The Comic Weekly Man reads aloud from a comic weekly, bringing the strips to life for listeners. The first strip is Hopalong Cassidy, in which Hoppy has gone alone to a logging camp to investigate a rifle-smuggling operation for Indians. Lucky and the marshal search for him, and a fight breaks out at the camp. Other strips follow, including Prince Valiant, Flash Gordon, Dagwood and Blondie, Roy Rogers, Alice in Wonderland, Dick Dare and Rusty Riley, each left at a cliffhanger. The episode aired in December 1951.
A radio broadcast reading comic strips to children, with the strips set in the Old West, ancient Scandinavia, Mars, a modern town, a railroad, Wonderland and early America
Characters: Comic Weekly Man, Hopalong Cassidy, Lucky, Marshal, Black John, Prince Valiant, Boltar, Tilakum
Listen for: The cliffhangers at the end of each strip, which the Comic Weekly Man promises to resolve next week
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
