What happens
The Comic Weekly Man, a jolly radio host, reads the funnies to his young listeners in the Comic Weekly series, broadcast on July 8, 1951. He opens with a riddle exchange and then reads from the Puck the Comic Weekly. The first strip is Hopalong Cassidy, in which Hoppy and Doc Swayze are trapped in Nestor's shack by outlaws who set it on fire. They escape through an unfinished tunnel and blow open a bank with dynamite, and the sheriff hears the blast and rides back toward the shack. Other strips are read in turn, including Prince Valiant, Flash Gordon, Donald Duck, Dagwood and Blondie, Roy Rogers, Dick Dale and Daniel Boone, Rusty Riley, and Uncle Remus.
Old-time radio children's comic program presenting comic strips read aloud, with the Western, adventure, and folk-tale strips set in frontier America, outer space, a medieval kingdom, and the everyday world of the strips.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
