What happens

The Comic Weekly Man reads aloud from the funnies to a young listener named Miss Honey. He opens with a riddle about Mr. Bigger and his baby, then reads a Hopalong Cassidy story in which Hoppy, posing as an outlaw, leads a gang into a trap and is left pinned under a crumbling ledge as Texas Rangers race to help. Further strips follow: Prince Valiant trains a falcon, Donald Duck is kept busy by his nephew Dewey, Brer Rabbit and Brer Buzzard play tricks on each other, and Dagwood helps the Woodleys with a broken vacuum cleaner. Each comic is left at a cliffhanger for next week.

A radio broadcast of a children's comic-strip program, with the stories set in the American West, medieval Britain, a farm, a lumber camp, outer space, early America and a cave system.

Characters: Comic Weekly Man, Miss Honey, Mr. Bigger, Hopalong Cassidy, Mr. Grief, Cabot, Prince Valiant, Alita

Listen for: The comic-reading segments are introduced by sound effects and the magic words, and each strip ends on a cliffhanger that the host promises to resolve next week.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
