What happens

The Comic Weekly Man reads the funnies aloud to his young listeners, and this episode covers the strip Hopalong Cassidy from the comic section of the Comic Weekly. Hoppy, California and Lucky have escaped an outlaw hideout with a boy named Felipe, who is blind from the sun, and are taking him toward his father's hacienda. Slote and his henchmen have told the sheriff of Rio Vista that the three strangers kidnapped Felipe, and a posse sets out after them. Hoppy hides the group in the brush to lose the pursuers and leads Felipe through a gate, where a waiting rancher with a gun stands ready. The episode is part of a 1951 broadcast that runs the comic strips in turn.

A radio program reading the comic weekly, with a Western frontier of Rio Vista, California, and the mountain country around it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
