What happens

The Comic Weekly Man reads the funnies from Puck the Comic Weekly to a listening audience. He opens with a story about a dog who received a diploma after attending school for ten years, then reads a Hopalong Cassidy strip in which Hoppy at the Bar-20 ranch takes in a wounded Mexican boy and confronts three riders who come looking for a fugitive. Further strips follow: Prince Valiant hunting chamois in the mountains, Uncle Remus's tale of Brer Weasel and Brer Rabbit, Dagwood's embarrassing bath, Roy Rogers escaping a plot against him, Flash Gordon trapped in a burning cavern, Dick's adventures with Lafayette in Philadelphia, and Rusty Riley's smuggling case.

A radio program presented as a read-aloud of Puck the Comic Weekly comic strips, with segments set in the American West, the mountains of Europe, a suburban home, a Mediterranean-style kingdom, colonial Philadelphia and the Maine coast.

Characters: Comic Weekly Man, Hopalong Cassidy, Prince Valiant, Uncle Remus, Brer Rabbit, Brer Weasel, Dagwood, Blondie

Listen for: The comic strip readings, including Hopalong Cassidy at the Bar-20 ranch and the dog who got a diploma.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
