What happens
The Comic Weekly Man, a jolly host, reads the funny pages of Puck the Comic Weekly to his young listeners. He introduces the strips in turn, beginning with Flash Gordon, where Flash lands alone on the planet Calisto and is seized by a mysterious force. Other strips follow, including Roy Rogers, Dick's Adventures in the gold rush, Rusty Riley, Dagwood and Blondie, Walt Disney's The Sword and the Rose, Donald Duck, and Uncle Remus. Each strip ends on a cliffhanger or a lesson, and the host promises to return next week.
A children's radio program in which a host reads comic strips aloud, with segments set on the planet Calisto, the American West, the gold rush era, a theatre and farm, Dagwood's home, Tudor England, and the Briar Patch.
Characters: Comic Weekly Man, Flash Gordon, Roy Rogers, Dick, Rusty Riley, Dagwood, Blondie, Princess Mary
Listen for: The host's cheerful introduction of each comic strip, and the quick reading of strip panels as the story is told.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
