What happens

The Comic Weekly Man reads aloud from the Puck the Comic Weekly newspaper supplement to a group of children. He starts with Jiggs in Bringing Up Father, who is locked in his house by Maggie and climbs out onto a truck that carries him to a prison. Next comes a Donald Duck story in which Donald plans a grand vacation but ends up camping in his own backyard with his nephews. The reading then moves on to Flash Gordon, whose crew is captured by a giant on the planet Titan, and to the story of Mary Tudor, who defies King Henry's order to marry the French king. The broadcast closes with Dagwood and Herb Woodley mistakenly quarrelling over a visit, and a cliffhanger in the Rusty Riley story. Original air date: July 26, 1953.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
