What happens
The Comic Weekly Man reads aloud from the funny pages of Puck the Comic Weekly to young listeners. Miss Adi chats with him about a picnic where she caught butterflies and a luna moth. He then reads the Beetle Bailey strip, in which Beetle loses his temper with his sergeant and beats him up after being refused a promotion. Next he reads Roy Rogers, where Roy is shot at by outlaw Ham Hawks, while the captured outlaws Higgins and Wildwood Odowd are left guarding the camp. The reading continues with Uncle Remus, Dagwood and Blondie, Flash Gordon, a Walt Disney story called The Sword and the Road, Dick's adventures, and Rusty Riley. Each strip ends on a cliffhanger. This is a 1953 episode of the Comic Weekly Man series, first broadcast on August 2, 1953.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
