What happens
Claudia and David are newlyweds, six weeks married, starting another week together. Their Monday morning begins with bickering over David's razor and his socks, and Claudia's father notices she seems troubled. Claudia and her mother visit a pet shop, where a large dog is offered for sale. Claudia buys the dog as a surprise to cement her marriage, and when David comes home they discuss whether they can keep it. The dog is named Spencer and the household gets used to having it.
