What happens

George Burns and Gracie Allen star in this episode of the Burns and Allen radio show, first broadcast February 19, 1948, on CBS and NBC Radio. Gracie insists she has been saving the household money by buying meat before prices fall, and George disagrees with her arithmetic. After George's rash decisions alarm her, Gracie goes to see Dr. Miller, who advises that she must never make a decision herself. Meanwhile, George gets a tip from a Texas visitor about buying cattle cheaply and sets out to phone Dallas. Gracie, Meredith Willson and a telephone company repairman each become involved as George tries to complete his call.

The Burns home, the neighboring house of Dr. Miller, and the surrounding neighborhood, with a Dallas, Texas cattle deal conducted by telephone.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
