What happens
George Burns is gloomy at breakfast, convinced he is a failure after a single vote in a political run and a rejected singing offer. Gracie Allen tries to cheer him up. A mix-up sends a telegram meant for Dinah Shore to the Burns home. It invites Kansas City's favorite singer to a war bond rally, and George decides the invitation is his. The episode is from the Burns and Allen series, originally aired on June 6, 1944, on CBS and NBC Radio, with Gracie Allen, Bea Benaderet, Meredith Willson and Mel Blanc in the cast.
The Burns home at 202 Cannon Drive in Los Angeles, and later preparations for a trip to Kansas City, Missouri.
Characters: George Burns, Gracie Allen, Bill Goodwin, Dinah Shore, Tootsie, Chutsy
Listen for: George's telegram mix-up with Dinah Shore's address and his plan to go to Kansas City.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
