What happens

George Burns tries to impress socialite Cobina Wright, who is coming to the Burns and Allen show that evening, and he and Gracie Allen argue with bandleader Artie Shaw about who has done what for whom. Gracie reads a letter from her brother Willie, who has been drafted into the army and describes his tent mates and his picture. George seeks advice on making a good impression on Cobina's uncle, and a Harvard-trained adviser offers ideas. Cobina arrives, and George finds himself competing with Artie Shaw for her attention. The broadcast features a series of comic exchanges and musical numbers from Artie Shaw's orchestra. The episode aired on January 13, 1941, with Gracie Allen, Bea Benaderet, Meredith Willson and Mel Blanc in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
