What happens
George Burns, a singer, is upset after Mr. DeMille rejects his voice for a picture, and he swears never to sing again. Gracie Allen, his wife, tries to lift his spirits, and a visit from the cleaning woman, Mrs. Bundy, leads to talk of numerology. Gracie learns that film star Dorothy Lamour is searching for a leading man whose numerology number is seven, and she sets out to make George fit that number. Guest star Dorothy Lamour and Gracie Allen both appear in this episode of Burns and Allen, a radio comedy series. The episode first aired on February 29, 1944.
The Burns house in Hollywood, followed by a Hollywood Canteen performance and a Paramount studio dressing room.
Characters: George Burns, Gracie Allen, Mrs. Bundy, Dorothy Lamour, Bill Goodwin
Listen for: Gracie's numerology scheme to match George's vibrations to Dorothy Lamour's search for a number seven leading man.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
