What happens
George and Gracie Burns live in a house where Gracie cannot refuse any door-to-door salesman, and her purchases pile up in the spare room. When George tries to teach her to say no, she still ends up ordering a grand piano. Later, George's friend Joe Bagley suggests a scheme involving a sofa cushion with the word mother on it, hoping Gracie will send for her mother and clear out her own spare room. Gracie's mother then arrives for a visit, and George sets about trying to keep her away from the house. The series is Burns and Allen, first broadcast on 1948-05-13 on CBS and NBC Radio, with Gracie Allen, Bea Benaderet, Meredith Willson and Mel Blanc in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
