What happens
George Burns and Gracie Allen host an episode of their Chesterfield-sponsored comedy show, with singer Frank Parker and Ray Noble and his orchestra. Gracie reads a telegram addressed to Frank Parker, which concerns an unpaid hotel bill from last year, and the couple worry about how it reached her. Meanwhile, Gracie fields a confusing phone call about an uncle at a receiving hospital and tells a muddled story about it. The show runs through a string of jokes, a visit from a self-described artist, and a brief song, while Paul Douglas repeatedly tries to deliver his sponsor's advertising message. The episode is from the Burns and Allen series, originally aired on October 7, 1938, with Gracie Allen, Bea Benaderet, Meredith Willson and Mel Blanc in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
