What happens
George Burns and Gracie Allen star in this episode of their comedy series. When Gracie hears news of the Paris Peace Conference, she asks George to let her cover it for her newspaper column, but he refuses. Looking for a column subject instead, she turns to the crime wave and decides that criminals can be reformed by taking them into ordinary homes. She visits the city jail and selects a large prisoner called Big Louie, who agrees to move in with her. George is wary of the arrangement, and the household soon sees the new arrival's habits in a different light.
The Burns home, and the city hall jail, in a 1946 radio comedy.
Characters: Gracie Allen, George Burns, Big Louie, Meredith Willson, Bill Goodwin
Listen for: Gracie's plan to rehabilitate a burglar by bringing him into the home, and George's reaction to it.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
