What happens

George Burns and Gracie Allen prepare to leave on a tour of camps and hospitals to entertain servicemen. Before departing, they arrange for their house to be looked after, and Gracie's neighbour Mrs. Vonzell is asked to keep an eye on things. Harry von Zell, the show's announcer, is present, and his mother is also a neighbour. Gracie and George talk with Mrs. Vonzell about their tour, and a colonel visits to discuss the trip. A plan for George to sing for the troops is made, but the colonel asks that it be kept secret. The episode is from the Burns and Allen series, broadcast on June 25, 1945, on CBS and NBC Radio. Gracie Allen, Bea Benaderet, Meredith Willson and Mel Blanc are the lead cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
