What happens
George and Gracie Burns are worried about the high cost of living. Gracie insists that refusing to pay high prices will bring them down, and George tests her method at the grocery, the butcher and the vegetable counter. Afterward they go to a movie, and Gracie suggests writing a family play to earn money. She sets out to find a wealthy backer, and she starts with a Texas oil millionaire, Mr. Judson, staying at the Plaza Hotel. The episode is a Burns and Allen radio comedy from 1947, with Gracie Allen and George Burns in the leading roles, and the Maxwell House Coffee program offers its sponsor messages within the broadcast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
