What happens

George Burns and Gracie Allen star in this episode of their long-running radio comedy series, first broadcast on October 27, 1942, on CBS and NBC. Gracie notices that her neighbors' husbands leave for offices each morning, and she wonders why George does not have one. George is persuaded to rent an office downtown, and Gracie signs the lease without reading it closely. Once the office is furnished, George finds that he has little to do there, and he must find a way to get out of the agreement. The episode presents the pair's usual misunderstandings as they deal with the rented space, a would-be secretary, and a 99-year lease.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
